Music By the Bay Festival all set for Canada Day 2011

The Music Bay the Bay Festival is set to kick-off its annual outdoor music concert on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Millennium Square in the beautiful Frenchman’s Bay, Pickering ON.

The event boasts live music bands from across Ontario, all under the age of 21 years old.

This year, over 150 solo performers and bands auditioned for a spot on the festival stage at the 4th Annual Music By The Bay Festival. The gruelling process was tough for Lori and Paul Murray, event organizers, who listened to every single audition submission over and over again, until finally narrowing it down.

Bands to be featured at this year’s event include:

  • Pale Whale – 3-piece Rock Band from Hamilton
  • Layton Thomas – Solo Alternative Rock Artist from Toronto
  • John MacPherson – 3-piece Powerpop Band from Napanee
  • Cole Hermer – Solo Pop Artist from Ajax
  • Sampson and the Doc – 5-piece Folk Driven Rock Band from Mount Forest
  • Freedom Thirty Five – 4-piece Pop Punk Band from Pickering
  • Elyse Simpson – Solo Folk Artist from Oakville
  • Mental Friction – 4-piece Hard Rock from Mississauga
  • Koetta Black – 4-piece Punk Rock Band from Burlington
  • The Skyes – 5-piece Progressive Hard Rock Band from Toronto

Opening Ceremonies for Music by the Bay will feature Matt Riches, who wrote the winning Durham Region theme song “Here In Durham”, and event sponsors Creative Math and Music will be present, entertaining guests with two of their own home-grown bands; namely JMZ and WIRELESS FAUX.

Legend Music Enterprises, Pickering, another prime sponsor of this yearly event will be holding a draw to win an **AWESOME** SOLO FLYING V electric guitar!

The event will run from approx. 11:45am to 6:30 pm and promises to be a day of music, food and family fun! Be sure to come early to get a good parking spot!
