LOCAL DURHAM BUSINESS OWNERS UNITE TO HELP MISSISSAUGA GIRL
Durham Kids Fall Fun Day celebrates the season while raising funds for local girl’s life-saving surgery.
Release date: October 25, 2009, Pickering-Ajax, ON
The Fairytale Palace, Ajax has partnered with the Sweet Spot Training Centre and Canador Automatic Doors of Pickering to deliver a Kids Fall Fun Day event for children in Durham Region, with proceeds to benefit Haley Stewart and the Daisy Foundation’s “Kisses for Haley” campaign.
The event will be held at the Fairytale Palace, 109 Old Kingston Rd. Unit 8, in Pickering Village, Ajax on Sunday, November 14th from 11am to 3pm. The three local Durham business owners/sisters – who are also mothers themselves, wanted to facilitate a fun, community event for local children while helping single mother Sherry Stewart raise enough funds to get her daughter Hailey the life-saving surgery she needs in the USA. Durham Kids Fall Fun Day will include professional face painting by a local Durham artist, Pirate Willy’s Scavenger Adventure, mini-putt, beanbag toss and other fun games, crafts, bake sale, snacks, draws, balloons, *POP STAR* kiddy karaoke, and a live afternoon matinee on the palace stage. Children may also get a ‘sneak peak’ at Santa before he appears at the Ajax Santa Claus Parade, scheduled later that day.
Local businesses from Durham and Toronto are already getting involved, including Legend Music, who generously donated a child sized guitar to be raffled off. The event team is currently accepting donations of cash and goods from individuals and businesses – including toys, crafts, food and snack items, and printing services. Businesses are also welcome to purchase a small display table at the event for $25.
100% of the profits raised will be donated to the Daisy Foundation to support Haley Stewart, a local 10 year old girl who was diagnosed with Dural arteriovenous fistulas/malformation (DAMV). While surgery for child DAMV is currently not available in Canada, the Mayo Clinic in the USA has a team of 50 neurosurgeons, vascular surgeons and pediatric surgeons who all specialize in brain avms. Dural arteriovenous fistulas are uncommon and treatment is complicated however “the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is a world leader in the diagnosis and treatment of DAMV and is ranked among the Best Hospitals for Neurology, Neurosurgery and Ophthalmology care by U.S. News & World Report.” More information on Haley and her condition may be found at: http://KissesForHaley.com.
